Easter Rhunette Jones Adams, 71, widow of Robert Adams, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Franklin Hospital, Valley Stream, Long Island, N.Y. She was born April 13, 1941, in the Potato Creek Section of Summerton. She’s a daughter of the late Albertus Jones and Vera Lemon Jones.
She attended Scott’s Branch High School in Summerton.
In her youth she joined Historic Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. After moving to Brooklyn, N.Y. she joined Zion Shiloh Baptist Church where she was a member of the Missionary board and sang in the Gospel Choir.
She was employed at CBS in Secaucus, N.J. for 30 year and retired as a Master Computer Operator.
Survivors are her longtime partner and friend; J.J. Thurston; her children Annette Jones, Ronald Adams, Kevin (Nicole) Adams, Tyrone Adams, Tracey Adams and 10 grandchildren.
The celebratory services for Mrs. Easter Jones Adams, will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Historic Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Summerton, with Rev. Albert Thompson, pastor officiating, Rev. Edward Roberts, presiding, Elder Sampson Pearson, Minister Leon Dingle, Rev. Manuel Fogle and Rev. Jerial Dingle assisting. Mrs. Adams will lie in repose one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at her residence, 2377 Toxoway Drive, Sumter, beginning Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012.
