East Clarendon loses in first round of playoffs to Chesterfield

The Wolverines couldn’t keep up with the speed of the Golden Rams, losing 63-22 Friday night in Chesterfield.

“They’re a great football team,” said East Clarendon Head Football Coach Dwayne Howell. “Our kids just couldn’t stay with their speed. They were so quick.”

Howell said his team played “the best they could” against the much quicker team.

“We scored more on them than any team they’ve faced this year,” Howell added.

Working their way inside the 10-yard-line on three occasions and coming away empty handed didn’t help.

“We were inside their 10 three times and didn’t score,” Howell said. “We had one interception and we lost two on downs. They were just too quick for us.”

East Clarendon ends the season at 6-5.

In the second round of playoff action next weekend,  Chesterfield will face the winner of Friday night’s game between Lamar and Ninety-Six.
