Dixie Darlings win tournament

Turbeville’s Dixie Darlings All Star 8-and-under softball team won the Sub-District III tournament held June 18-21, in Pamplico.

The Darlings played three games winning all three to become Sub-District III Champions. The girls combined hot bats with smart base running to outscore their opponents in the tournament, 53-9.

On June 18, they defeated Johnsonville, 19-2. On June 19, they defeated Hannah-Pamplico, 22-1. On June 21, they defeated Johnsonville, 12-6.

The Dixie Darlings were selected from four different Turbeville teams. The Darlings recently won the Carolina Softball Association Tournament and have performed well in several other tournaments.

The Dixie Darlings defeated Dillon on June 25, in Florence in the double-elimination district championship. They will play in the winner’s bracket at 7:30 p.m. on June 26. The three other teams in the tournament are Sumter, Dillon and Florence.
