Clarendon Health System, along with first response agencies and support agencies are planning a county-wide disaster exercise on Wednesday, June 15, 2011. The exercise is designed to test and evaluate the county’s current disaster response plans and procedures.
The operation, code named Operation Clarendon will provide an excellent opportunity to evaluate strengths and weaknesses during an exercise versus a real-life event, according to Clarendon Health System spokes person Lesley Dykes.
The scenario is that a 5.8 magnitude earthquake has occurred causing moderate to heavy damage within Clarendon County. Given the magnitude of the earthquake in the scenario, it is likely that communities throughout the county will see increased activity of emergency response personnel including but not limited to Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement as well as Public Works.
