Clarendon vs. Turbeville for district title

It’s a battle of Clarendon County teams in for the District 9 tournament championship at 7 p.m. tonight in Holly Hill. The winner will advance to the state championship playoff series.

The Clarendon County Dixie Majors All-Star 12-and-under baseball team will take on the Turbeville Dixie Majors for the one-game final.

Clarendon County, St. George and Turbeville tied going into the finals for the District 9 tournament. Turbeville received a bye while Clarendon County had to take on St. George on July 11 to advance into the final game against Turbeville.

Clarendon County defeated St. George in a seven-inning game Tuesday night, 6-5. Dalton Page got the win for Clarendon by pitching four innings and giving up only two runs. Page also delivered the tying run with a two-out single in the sixth inning. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Wyatt Rowland scored on a base hit by Taylor Lee to end the game. Jake Jordan started the game on the mound and gave up three runs over three innings. Jordan also hit his second homerun of the tournament in the first inning of Tuesday night’s game to give Clarendon the lead at 2-0. Jordan also had a double to go 2 for 3 for the night. Taylor Lee went 3 for 4 while Hilton Layton, Tripp Prosser, Robert Dykes, Brewer Brunson, Rowland and Page all recorded hits for the game.

For directions to the field in Holly Hill: From Manning, take Interstate 95 south to exit 93. Go to Holly Hill. Go the second traffic light and take a left. Go to the stop sign and take a right. Go to the next street and take a left (Unity Street). The field will be about two miles on the right.

Manning-Santee American Legion Post 68

Heavy rain on Tuesday afternoon delayed the completion of Manning-Santee’s game Monday night against Georgetown to tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Monarch Field. The first game of the Lower State playoffs between the Manning-Santee Juniors and Mullins has been backed up to 7 p.m. Thursday night at Monarch Field.
