Clarendon action heats up

The Laurence Manning Academy Lady Swampcats’ 5-3 victory over the homesteading East Clarendon Lady Wolverines highlighted a week of Clarendon County softball and baseball.

The Lady Cats arrived at the field and ready to go and did not look back.

They opened up the scoring and were leading 3-2 in the fifth inning.

Due to passed balls, the Lady Swampcats crossed the plate two times for two unearned runs late in the game.

The runs stretched the Laurence Manning lead to 5-2.

In the final inning, East Clarendon scored a late run cutting their deficit to 5-3, however that is as close as they got.

Strong pitching, defense and hitting from LMA held the Lady Wolverines the remainder of the game.

Chelsey Byrd led ECHS in hits with two.
