Charity Green “Cherry” Carter, 77, widow of Johnnie Roosevelt Carter, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Tuomey Hospital.
Born July 26, 1935, in Cades, she was the daughter of the late Pledger Thomas Green and the late Louise Camilla Driggers Green. She was a retired store manager and a member of Grace Christian Fellowship Church.
She is survived by two sons, Wade “Buddy” Justice of Manning and Mark Justice (Lisa H.) of Charlotte, N.C.; three daughters, Debra Ardis (Billy) of Manning, Sheila Rowell (Wayne) of Moncks Corner and Judi Thynes (Jason) of Manning; five sisters, Juanita McClary, Violet Davis, Ruthie Hewitt, Nancy Richardson and Betty Yandle; 12 grandchildren, Ashley Ardis, Matt Ardis, Shannon Johnson, April Floyd, Heather Timmons, Hannah Justice, Candice Castle, Crystal Player, Hunter Thynes, Brad Justice, Travis Justice and Cody Justice; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Betty Green; two step-daughters, Lynn Cockfield and Patty Isom; and a step-son, Jerry Carter.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Durant T. Green; and a great-grandchild, Taylor Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Murdoch officiating. Burial will follow in Clarendon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Matt Ardis, Brad Justice, Michael Castle, Wes Brunson, Carroll Harrington and Henry Brailsford.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 10256 Hwy. 260, Manning.
