Carrie Lee “Dorothy” Canty, 60, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.
Born April 11, 1950, she was a daughter of the late James Edward and Purlease Crosby Canty. She received her education in the public schools of Clarendon County.
Survivors are two sons, Isham (Helen) Canty of Pinewood and Stanley Canty of Thomasville, N.C.; a daughter, Bridges (Kenneth) Riley of Pinewood; a sister, Ida Mae Canty of Thomasville; a special cousin, James Harvin of Pinewood; an uncle, John (Mary) Canty of Summerton; 10 grandchildren, Rashaud, Shaquarius, Kendra, Jazzanaiye, Draquan, Emoni, Jabrelle, Kwnisha, Marcellus and Marquis; a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerome K. Canty.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at New Hope UME, Pinewood, with Bishop Leroy T. James, the Rev. Dorothy Boyd and the Rev. John Canty.
Burial followed in New Hope Community Cemetery in Pinewood.
Community Funeral Home of Sumter was in charge of the arrangements.
