On Jan. 31, Manning Police Cpl. Melissa Buck responded to Gib Drive in reference to an attempted break-in. The complainant told officers he was in the shower when he heard a loud bang at the front of the residence. He told the officers he immediately got dressed and went to the front door. He said he didn’t see anyone but he did see a screwdriver with a black and yellow handle shoved into the door near the lock. The man told officers he left the home until officers could arrive. The officers reported finding the screwdriver on the front porch and the handle to the screen door was broken off. The officers also reported finding the front door’s weather stripping had been torn near the lock. Damage to the doors was estimated at $40.
