Altee Hicks

AIKEN, S.C. - Altee Hicks, Sr. 82, widower of Henrietta Wilson Hicks and Lucille Woods Hicks died Friday, June 18, 2010, at Unihealth Post Acute Care of Aiken. He’s the son of the late Allen Hicks and Lucille Bradshaw Hicks. He was born February 4, 1928, in Clarendon County.

He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County.

In 1952 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served honorably in the Korean War.

Survivors are two sons, Altee (Cheryl) Hicks Jr.of Aiken, S.C., and Stanley (Vanessa) Hicks of Raleigh, N.C.; four brothers, the Rev. Sylvester Hicks, George Hicks both of Manning, Levan (Genevie) Hicks of Greensboro, N.C., of Milton, Fla., and Isaiah (Hattie) Hicks of Sumter; one sister, Susie Hicks of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four grandchildren.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Greeleyville Hwy. 521, Manning.

Brother John Smith, eulogist, assisted Brother General Benbow in the service.

Burial was in Scarborough Cemetery.

Samuels Funeral Home, LLC of Manning was in charge of arrangements.
