Clarendon Hall Lady Saints defeated Coastal Christian Academy Lady Cougars on Friday, Feb. 17, in the SCISA Class A State Playoffs.

Lady Saints - 43/Lady Cougars - 31

Clarendon Hall, the #2 seed going into the game, led three of the quarters, winning 13-4 in the first, 16-8 in the second, 7-4 in the third. The Lady Cougars attempted a comeback in the fourth, outscoring the Lady Saints 15-7.

Kaitlyn Sawyer had 11 points, 18 rebounds and three assists. Katelyn Carlisle had 10 points and two assists, Sonam Kuber had 10 points and five rebounds, and Rachel Carlton had eight points and 17 rebounds. Kelsey Carlisle had two points, and Jessica Brazell had two points.

Head Coach Casey Connors said that the team played well, struggled a bit, but did what they needed to do to win.

“We stayed focused and overall I am pleased with the team’s performance,” he said.

The girls faced-off #6 seed Newberry Academy on Monday, Feb. 20, in the semifinals held at Wilson Hall School in Sumter.

Clarendon Hall Boys fall in first round

Clarendon Hall Saints lost to #3 seed Anderson Christian in the SCISA Class A Playoffs on Saturday, Feb. 18, in Columbia.

Anderson Christian - 70/Clarendon Hall - 48

The Saints lost the first quarter 3-12, the second quarter 16-20, the third quarter 18-21, and the fourth quarter 11-17.

Leading scorers were Hunter Hodges with 17 points, Kevin Bennett with 15 points, Daniel Cogdill with 12 points. Waymon Hall had two points, and Wes Keller and Colin Dates each had one point.

The Saints will lose seniors Hodges, Cogdill, Hall, Andrew Smoak and Trey Fleming to graduation this year.
